2. Definition


 
Continuity: continuity (time-scheme) is consistency of the charecteristics of persons, plot, objects, and places seen by the reader or viewer over some period of time. it is of relevance to several media.

Match on action: either an action commenced in shot A is completed in shot B, or an action in shot A is mirrored by an action in shot B.
 

Shot/Reverse shot: Is a film technique where one character is shown looking at another character and then the other character is shown looking back at the first character. The viewer assumes that the characters are facing eachother because they are facing in opposite directions.








180 degree rule: The 180 Degree Rule states that two characters in a scene should always have the same left/right relationship to each other. If you don't follow the 180 Degree Rule, or break it intentionally, it disrupts the scene disorients the audience. When you break the 180 line, a person who was originally facing left in a scene is all of the sudden facing right

Preliminary exercise: Continuity task involving filming and editing a character opening a door, crossing a room and sitting down in a chair opposite another character, with whom she/he then exchanges a couple of lines of dialogue. This task should demonstrate match on action, shot/reverse shot and the 180-degree rule.

Main task: the
titles and opening of a new fiction film, to last a maximum of two minutes. All video and audio material must be original, produced by the candidate(s), with the exception of music or audio effects from a copyright-free source.
